Shanghai Jiaotong – Global CEO programme

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was founded in 1896, and it is one of the oldest and most reputable higher education institutions in China. Regarded as “The Oriental MIT”, it is recognised as one of the top four universities in China. SJTU Overseas Education College focuses on executive education, collaborating with world renowned universities and institutions such as ourselves.

Practical impact

The Global CEO Programme provides first class business education to business leaders in China to help them face key macro-economic challenges and prepare them to invest globally. The participants, around 50 per programme, are CEOs and successful entrepreneurs from influential Chinese private businesses, many with annual revenue exceeding USD$5 billion.

Design and delivery

Over the past three years we have designed and delivered a series of bespoke leadership programmes for SJTU delegates, focusing on science and technology, with an emphasis on the application of cutting-edge research and how new discoveries have transformed our lives. Our honorary speakers are as follows:

  • The Rt. Hon. Sir John Major KG, CH, Former UK Prime Minister (1990-1997)
  • The Rt. Hon. Lord William Hague, First Secretary of State, Leader of the House of Commons, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (2010-2014)
  • Professor Sir John Gurdon, Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine 2012, Fellow of Royal Society; Distinguished Group Leader in Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute; Honorary Fellow of Churchill College, University of Cambridge
  • Professor Anthony Hewish, Nobel Prize Winner for Physics 1974, Fellow of Royal Society, Fellow of Churchill College, University of Cambridge
