Leadership Insight

The Psychology of Good and Bad Leadership - an American Perspective

This event has been postponed in its current format because of Covid-19.  More details to follow.

Churchill College Alumni are invited to join a Leadership Insight at the Oxford and Cambridge Club, London, held in partnership with the Møller Institute, our wholly owned subsidiary company. The leadership insight will be chaired by Michael Cowan, Winston Churchill Fellow, and Cathy Butler, Head of Executive Education at the Møller Institute.

As world leaders grapple with the ambiguity of the coronavirus, climate change and world trade, Ron Riggio, Visiting Møller Leadership Scholar will share his insights into Psychology of Good and Bad Leadership from an American Perspective. Ron will explore research on toxic leaders versus exemplary leaders, and how leaders, good and bad, both use basic psychological principles to build devoted followers, but for very different reasons and ends. In addition to the psychological dynamics of leadership and power, transformational leadership, and research on virtue ethics, will be used to illustrate what the very best leaders do to be effective and good.

Cathy Butler, Head of Executive Education at the Møller Institute will look at practical ways of dealing with ambiguity and how by developing the seven characteristics of an Explorer’s Mindset you can build the courage and capacity to thrive in uncertain and ambiguous times, the resilience to navigate uncharted waters and the humility to develop and engage high performance teams to develop success for their organisations.
