Chinese healthcare leaders and policy makers learn from UK’s NHS challenges with Møller Executive Education.
A series of leadership development programmes for Chinese Healthcare leaders designed by Møller Executive Education in Cambridge has delivered significantly improved efficiency, skills and medical innovation in China.
Over the last seven years the Møller Executive Education team at Churchill College, University of Cambridge have built strong strategic partnerships with many of the Health & Family Planning Commissions and top teaching hospitals in China, designed and delivered programmes that have increased the efficiency, skills and supported the strategic planning and effective policy implementation throughout the healthcare reform in China.
The latest major healthcare authority to visit Cambridge is Tianjin Health & Family Planning Commission bringing 30 hospital CEOs, medical directors and civil servants responsible for public health and hospital management in Tianjin, the fifth-largest urban area in China with a population of 11 million today, set to grow to nearly 15 million in the next 15 years presenting huge healthcare challenges.

Chinese healthcare leaders have been able to share industry insights and we have encouraged bilateral learning, as a result the participants have identified challenges faced by the NHS over the last six decades and compare these to what China is experiencing today during their massive healthcare reforms. This learning has enabled the policy makers and public health leaders to implement changes and address critical issues. ”
Tianjin Healthcare Commission group (pictured) heard from Patrick Peal, Chief Executive of East Anglian Air Ambulance and Alastair Wilson, Medical Director about how the service delivers outstanding care, quality, and value to the community and has a culture of continuous improvement, before witnessing a landing of an Air Ambulance and meeting the crew at the Møller Centre .
The head of the delegation from Tianjin Healthcare Commission commented, “The programme has given our leadership team the knowledge, skills and confidence to be able to further the reform of public hospitals, increase their efficiency and support the integration of primary, secondary and social care to better facilitate healthcare services in China. We have enjoyed meeting, listening to and debating with an incredibly experienced faculty of senior healthcare leaders from the UK and have exchanged best practice on measuring and improving quality of clinical care; hospital management, joining up primary and secondary care, public private partnerships, delivering clinical excellence as well as improving efficiency. The programme has allowed us to analyse the major challenges and issues China is facing during the healthcare reform and development; and then design, introduce, and build major new innovative policies that will benefit the Chinese healthcare system.

We have signed a five-year MOU with Tianjin Healthcare Family Commission and this is the second year of our partnership with them.”
