What is your area of expertise?

Governance, board leadership, finance, ethics, and organisational transformation.

My work centres on building effective boards, strengthening decision-making systems, and creating cultures where diversity of thought is recognised as a strategic asset.

During your career, what is the one lesson that has stayed with you throughout it all?

That leadership is a responsibility, not a status.

Every major failure I’ve witnessed, corporate, societal, or political, comes from people thinking the role is about them. The best leaders build systems that serve others, distribute power, and create psychological safety. When leaders focus on integrity and service, everything else follows.

What are some of the biggest challenges organisations face in relation to governance?

Three stand out:

  1. Centralisation of power; too many organisations concentrate authority at the top, disconnected from where real knowledge and talent
  2. Lack of diversity of thinking; boards and executive teams often remain cognitively homogeneous, creating blind spots that eventually become risks and loss of opportunities. .
  3. Cultural complacency; governance fails when boards assume that good intentions equal good systems.

Many organisations still treat governance as paperwork rather than a living, dynamic practice. This is precisely where modern boards must evolve.

What first led you to pursue a career in finance?

I grew up fascinated by how systems shape society. Finance, to me, was the language of power, structure, and possibility. It gave me deep insight into how decisions impacts economies, industries, and people’s lives. It was never really about numbers.

What inspired you to start your own company?

I wanted to work in a way that aligned fully with my values.

After many years in the financial industry as an investment banker, I realised that meaningful change often comes from the outside, through independent thinking, courageous truth-telling, and freedom from corporate constraints. My company allowed me to champion good governance, ethical leadership, human rights and diversity on my own terms.

Is there something you would like to achieve as an Associate at the Møller Institute?

To empower and inspire leaders, especially those responsible for governance, to think differently.

If I can help boards and executives shift from performative governance to purposeful, courageous, future-focused ethical governance, then I’ve contributed something of real value.

What are your biggest professional and personal achievements?

Professionally:

  • Serving on multiple boards of complex organisations across industries and geographies.
  • Founding the Institute of Neurodiversity (ION), now a global organisation for neurominority rights and equity.
  • Shaping governance thinking internationally through Effective Directors – Questions to Ask and related frameworks.
  • Advising governments, regulators, and institutions on governance and ethics.

Personally:

  • Raising my children while building an international career.
  • Thriving as a woman of minority neurotype in environments not designed for diversity.
  • Maintaining curiosity, empathy, and a sense of humour through life’s challenges.

If you could give one piece of advice to somebody new to a leadership role, what would it be?

Lead with humility, listen with intention, and assume that any person in front of you know something you don’t know.

The people closest to the real work often know the most. Create space for their voices, and you’ll avoid both mistakes and missed opportunities.

Outside of work, what motivates or inspires your personal growth and leadership philosophy?

Human complexity.

Understanding why people behave as they do, how culture, neurotype, trauma, systems, and identity shape us has always fascinated me. I am deeply inspired by creativity, psychology, and the power of storytelling to learn from each other.

What are some of your interests / hobbies outside of work?

Writing fiction, non-fiction, social commentary, and leadership/governance thinking. I have also painted and drawn all my life, oil on canvas. A specific theme is polarbear paintings in all white with thick oils shaping the polar bears.

Spending time with my children and extended family.

My dogs, long walks in nature, and the simplicity of hygge: candles, good food, and meaningful conversation.

I also enjoy global travel, cultural exploration, and creative projects that blend art and philosophy.
