Get to know: Lalie Constantin
What is your previous job experience?
I worked as an Executive Assistant in Council Town Planning for a few years along my studies. In the last year I have been working in Operations at the National Portrait Gallery of London where I participated in bettering visitor experience and researching the collection to write and deliver public programmes about disability history.
Do you have any academic achievements?
I am a scholar of the University of Cambridge where I did my Undergraduate, I also received an MA with Distinction from the Warburg Institute. I feel grateful to have received three awards during my academic journey, and I had the pleasure of presenting research papers at different university conferences.
What made you want to work at the Møller Institute?
I’m passionate about Education, and having worked and been in Education previously, the Møller offered an exciting opportunity to approach this field from a different perspective. I was attracted by the fact that the Institute sits at the hinge between the professional and academic worlds. As I would like to interact with both in my career, the Møller appeared as the ideal place to solidify my skills and experience. Since I am fond of art and architecture, Hans J. Wegner’s designs and Henning Larsen’s architecture in the middle of the beautiful grounds of Churchill College also constituted a most attractive work environment.
What appealed to you about this position and led you to join the team?
My current role at the Møller is also a great opportunity to build on my previous positions to further my administrative experience and develop my skillset in a forward-thinking environment that interacts both with the professional and academic worlds. Since this role extends to supporting the Senior Management Team, it was also an exciting opportunity to learn more about all aspects of a business like Møller, from operations, venue and finances to executive education.
How have you found working at the Møller Institute so far?
I have found it quite exciting! Everyone has been very welcoming, and I’m enjoying getting to know my colleagues better, but also understanding all the different things that people do for the Institute. It has been very enriching, I already feel like I am learning and growing a lot!
How do you spend your free time?
Having done my studies in art history I’m very passionate about all things creative. I spend a lot of my free time going to exhibitions, museums, concerts, ballets etc but also attending seminar series around various Cambridge University faculties that focus on Humanities subjects. I also like to be creative myself, drawing, painting, dancing, and playing music, when I get the time.
What do you hope you achieve during your time at the Møller Institute?
During my time at the Møller I would like to become an extremely reliable team player. I want to be known as the person you can count on to help with anything that needs doing. I also want to achieve a deep understanding of the Programmes and Operations of the Møller so that I can efficiently support the Executive Team, and particularly support the CEO in maintaining a ‘big picture’ view of the Institute. I want to be an empathetic colleague that understands the needs, wishes and struggles of all staff members so that I can better keep the CEO aware of these issues, and participate in maintaining a high standard of staff welfare.
