Get to know: Mily Rodriguez
How did you get started in your career?
I started my career in hospitality, specifically in the hotel industry. As I spent more time interacting with customers, as well as around colleagues who were organising events, I began to become interested in working with corporate clients. I enjoyed the administrative aspect of my job, therefore applied to the Møller Institute as it integrates both parts!
What do you love the most about your job?
I know it might sound unusual, but I love how intense my job can be at times. I thrive under pressure because it pushes me to do my best, and I enjoy the challenge, it makes me feel like there are no limits when you truly love what you do.
What does your job consist of?
As a Senior Receptionist, I ensure that I not only support my manager but also my team. My role is to make sure we deliver our best service every time we interact with clients, whether it is welcoming them, sign-posting them to where they need to be, or answering questions, I am your girl!
What is your previous job experience?
I worked at University Arms for three years, starting as a Housekeeper and growing into a supervisory role. This experience taught me how to be a better team player and how to manage people. Later, I had the opportunity to work in the Reception team, which made me realise how much I enjoy customer service and how natural it feels for me.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
That’s a hard question because people often see you from their own perspective and think they already know everything about you. However, if I had to choose something, I would say my bravery and discipline.
What are your favourite things to do outside of work?
I love Pilates as much as I love cooking. Also, spending time with my family and my partner makes me happy.
What would you say your proudest accomplishment is, both in your professional and personal life?
In my professional life, I would say my biggest accomplishment is growing in my career. Even though I am not yet where I want to be, I am taking the right steps to get there. I see everything as a process.
In my personal life, my proudest accomplishment is leaving my family behind to step out of my comfort zone, learn English, and start a new life by myself.
Are there any upcoming projects / events you are excited about?
Yes, but as my mum said, you don’t comment your projects until you already have them in your hands.
Any advice for others in your field or newcomers to the industry?
Think bigger and don’t let comfort hold your back. There is always a good opportunity out there to grow, push yourself, and exceed your own expectations.
What made you want to work at the Møller Institute?
I was drawn to the Møller Institute because of its professionalism and the excellent learning opportunities it offers. Additionally, the friendly and welcoming staff made it an even more appealing place to work.
How would you say your co-workers would describe you?
I want to believe they see me as a professional person who know what I am doing with a good knowledge of my area. Also, really passionate in everything that I do, always happy and charming.
